Eclipse the Board Game
A game of Eclipse places you in control of vast interstellar civilizations, competing for success. You will explore new star  systems, research technologies and build spaceships to wage war with. There are many potential paths to victory, so you need to plan your strategy according to the strengths and weaknesses of your species while paying attention to the other civilizations’ endeavors. In the core of Eclipse, there are innovative resource management and action selection mechanisms. Even though you explore space and take over new sectors on the common game board, all the production and resource management is done conveniently on your own player board. The upkeep cost of your civilization rises rapidly as you take more actions and the area you control increases. This creates an interesting balancing problem and restrains the exponential growth of the civilizations. Eclipse is an epic empire building game that even with full player count can be played under three hours. Euro-type game mechanisms offer a smooth gameplay and minimize the downtime. Nevertheless, Eclipse has a lot of details and theme woven seamlessly into the game. For example, you may design your own starships: each player has four ship types that they can build and design as they will. The technology tree also has a new, non-linear system. Eclipse has seven different species for you to choose from. Each player can either play as Terrans (ie. humans) or one of the unique alien species. Each species has different characteristics and abilities. The modular board and the dynamic technology tree ensure that each session of Eclipse is unique! From our good friends at the U.S.S. Nokomis Star Trek Fan Club “We’re having our annual Spaghetti Social on Saturday,  September 22, 2012 from 6PM to 6PM at the Moose Lodge located at 5927 Concord Boulevard in Invergrove Heights, MN 55076 . It’s fund raising event ($12.00 per person) for one of the longest running clubs of its type in America and we hope you can join for a good old fashioned time!” Furthermore “We have been active in Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota, science fiction community for more than 20 years. For us, Star Trek is a starting point to launch friendships. We take our common interest in the show and optimism in our future and apply it to the world around us. Whether it’s attending our regular meetings, participating in a community service project, or socializing at one of our parties or campouts, the Nokomis can be as much as you want to make it.” Take it from us…last year this event was a ton of fun and a great opportunity to support a great club and have a good time! FAMILY BOARD NIGHT AT THE SOURCE
2nd Saturday of Each Month – FREE!
Hosted by our very own Travis, Holly & Patrick, the Source is pleased to announce that we have regulary scheduled Family Board  Night at the Source for every 2nd Saturday of each month. The idea is simple, bring up any board game you want to play starting at 7PM. All types of board games, players, skill levels, ages (children under 18 must be with a parent) and interests are welcome! The start time for each GamePalooza is 6PM. After 9PM, you’re welcome to bring any food items for yourself or to share with the group (beverages are restricted to those purchased at the Source). Our first couple of Game Nights have been reallly fun and well attended! Keep in mind it’s a first come, first served event. Something for everyone and everyone welcome! THE POKEMON LEAGUE AT THE SOURCE

One of our best and longest running game groups at the Source is our Pokemon  League. It’s run and maintained by the mighty Raymond Steinke II. The Pokemon league welcomes all players, all skill levels and is reallly a ton of fun to participate in! So much so that many of the parents of our players have gotten involved. Honestly, if you’re thinking about you or someone you know trying out Pokemon, this is the place to do it! Everyone is welcome!

Pathfinder is going strong at the Source! Led  by Jon Lamkin a group has taken the initiative to start up our very own homegrown version of the Pathfinder Society. This, of course, features RPG cenarios, player rewards (TBA) and good old fashioned fun based on the red hot Pathfinder RPG by Paizo Publishing.  Greetings from Tim’s corner! Wow, a lot of packs have been selling. I have been restocking non stop. Thank you all. As far as the drawers go, recently I have put out a lot of Star Trek Voyager comics. Along with that are some Star Wars mini series; Heir to the Empire, Jabba the Hutt, Mara Jade, and Jedi Academy. Strange Sports Stories, Thrill Killer, and Time Cop are some mini series that went out. Also I put out some Thor comics, both in the early 300′s and the late 400′s. Finally, from our inventory titles ranging from Mystery Men into New Warriors. Enjoy! Tim
