Double Trouble With M4 Sept 26th

We ran not one, but two games of “La Belle Famille”, a historic French & Indian War scenario, last night. Ordinarily I’d provide a blow-by-blow account of the action, but since I was actively commanding the French-allied Huron war-bands in one of the two games, my objectivity could be questioned! Both games were played with identical sets of 15mm troops on identical terrain layouts, both using our favorite Wilderness Wars rules. But the outcomes couldn’t have been more different. One game witnessed the French victoriously sweep the British defenders before them, lifting the siege of Ft. Niagara and changing history. The other table saw a nearly textbook version of the historical events play out, with my Hurons faltering and the French Infanterie de la Marine stumbling forward into a cunning British trap.

Both tables reported one thing the same, though: all present had a great time! And, as always, a few late stragglers showed up to kibbitz and look at the toys. And that’s the great thing about M4: Win, lose or just to show up and jaw, it’s all about the comradery and love of the hobby, and all are welcome.

Next week: Brent Knoll’s triumphant return with another installment of “All Quiet On The Martian Front”!
