This week we’re totally geeking out on the upcoming MCBA FallCon Celebration at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds this weekend. We had fistacuffs around here trying to figure out who got to go and who has to work the store!

 We are pleased to announce that one of the greatest living fantasy writers and one of our all time favorite people, Margaret Weis will be making a stop at the Source on Thursday, Ocober 8, 2009 (specific time will be announced in a week or two) on her way to being a Guest of Honor at Gaylaxicon (www.galaxicon2009.com). Margaret just released her much anticipated Dragonlance Novel Dragons of the Hourglass Mage adding to her substantial body of outstanding works. She is truly a person that deserves her New York Times bestselling author status and is always eager to meet and greet her fans! We’ll keep you updated as more specifics become available! MARLA BEA BENEFIT – HELP DEFEAT BREAST CANCER
Superstar Comic Book Artists Step Up to Help! – Online Auction Begins on October 12th
 ” Marla is my oldest sister. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in December, 2008. Two months later my mother, Bea, was also diagnosed with breast cancer.Marla’s breast cancer was diagnosed as invasive ductal carcinoma – Stage 2-B/3-A. Marla completed 6 months of chemotherapy and she is still completing radiation treatments. She will continue weekly infusions of Herceptin until April, 2010. “We need to end this horrible disease. Thanks to everyone for the sketches, we all appreciate your help!” Marla continues to do well, She is a survivor. STAR WARS – GALAXY AT WAR RELEASE TOURNAMENT AT THE SOURCE!
Sunday, November 1st 2009 – 1PM to 6PM
 You’re invited to join us at the Source Comics & Games on Sunday November 1st from 1PM to 6PM for a Star Wars Galaxy at War Release Tournament! The only fee will be the cost of 2 boosters, which run $14.99 each before tax. These boosters must be purchased at the Source and on the day of the tournament! 2 Open boosters as prizes, and everyone will get to take figures in order, based on the results of the tournament. !st place winner gets 1st pick, etc., until all are gone!
Other Notes:
* Everyone will build 100 point legal armies from the two boosters they purchase.
* Each game will have a one hour time limit, although it probably won’t be necessary.
* We will not be playing DCI format, and the center map gambit rule will not be in place.
* In addition to wins being determined by defeating all of your enemy’s team, in case of time
limit issues and ties we will also count number of points defeated, in order to deter people
from just staying on their side of the map!

WARHAMMER 40,000 – THIS WEEKEND AT THE SOURCE
Saturday, October 10 2009 – Start at 10AM
 It’s that time again, Mega Battle #5 for the Lucky 13’s campaign. We have scheduled ours for Saturday, October 10th here at the Source Comics & Games. Scenario #5: As the war has intensified, this sector of battlefront has come to a stalemate from the exchange of vast batteries of beyond-the-horizon artillery. The uncanny accuracy of the big guns has been made possible by Spotters from both sides, infiltrating forward through the ruins to call down fire directly on the coordinates of high-value enemy targets.Rolling Thunder: At the end of each Turn, for each of its Objectives controlled by one or more scoring units, a player from that side may roll a D6 to see if that unit has found the Forward Artillery Spotter or his fire control gear: on a roll of ‘6′ the search is successful. That Objective now becomes a Vital Objective for that side, and an Artillery Barrage may be called in immediately (before either the next turn begins, or the game ends) by placing the Apocalyptic Barrage template anywhere on the table with the following profile: Artillery Barrage (D6), S9, AP3, Ordnance Barrage.
Setup is 10AM, where teams will be set and game start is 11AM. Bring any size force from 500-5000 points.
Saturday, November 7th will be the final battle in the Lucky 13’s campaign for 2009. Make sure to come in and join the festivities and get a sneak peek at what we plan for 2010.

TIM’S SOURCE COMICS & GAMES BACK ISSUE CORNER
News & Notes Regarding Back Issue Activity at the Source!
Another week at Tim’s corner. Welcome back to Tim’s corner. Inventory fills went from Shuriken through Spiderwoman. From collections, I put out a bunch of Superman vol2 issues, some in the first 34 issues, and some between 95 and 200. I put out most of the issues of the short run Teen Titan’s vol2. I put out a lot of the early Dark Horse Usagi Yojimbo issues. I filled in a bunch of the Weapon X series and one shots. For those people who need to know all the details, the DC Who’s Who in Star Trek. Going back in time a ways, I put out some Ben Casey and Dr. Kildare issues. I filled in some Batman Gotham Knights between 20-35, and Birds of Prey between 28-47. Also I keep putting out more packs almost every week. As always thanks for stopping by and giving me reasons to play with comics.
