Hello Everyone,
This weekend it finally begins! The 25th Anniversary MCBA SpringCon Comic Book Celebration opens to the public at 10AM Saturday May 19 and 10AM Sunday May 20th. You’re invited! Please grab your friends and family, come early, stay late! It’s going to be a lot of fun and there’s a ton of things to see and do!

2013 MCBA SPRINGCON COMIC BOOK CARNIVAL
 MAY 18 & 19 – 2013 – 10AM to 5PM Both Days at the centrally located Minnesota State Fairgrounds! In the Grandstand! That’s right! The MCBA is returning to the 80,000 square foot Minnesota State Fair Grandstand. This spacious, historical Grandstand provides enough room for all of the extreme comic book action to take place under one roof, in one giant room!

 Admission is just $12.00 per adult. Good for both days! Children 9 & under are FREE! Get $1.00 Off Your Admission With A Canned Food Shelf Donation! Generally ticket sales begin at around 9:30AM We do this so that when the doors open to the public at 10AM everyone can get in right away!

COSTUME CHARACTERS & COSTUME CONTEST
 As usual, SpringCon will be featuring many costumed Super Heroes & characters and we’re putting together a costumed character parade! There will be plenty of photo opportunities and all sorts of zaniness and surprises! They love to interact with attendees at SpringCon and they are a terrific group that support our community, promote our community to the general population and do a ton of cool charity and good works! Please stop by and see them! They’re awesome!

The MCBA is proud to welcome back The Propatorium to the 2013  SpringCon! This is a very special feature display of some of the most unusual and cool hand made props from popular mvies, television show and other media events over the past 50 years! Not only that…the booth is staffed by the people who made them! It’s great to see he awesome skill and care that went into some of these magnificent pieces and then be able to ply the folks who made them with Jedi mind tricks and try to get the secret of their construction out of them! Honestly, don’t miss this feature!

One of the premiere events at SpringCon! Our 25th annual charity auction  takes place on Sunday May 20 at 2:30PM in the Guest Creator Panel Room!  1) COMFORTABLE SHOES – An obvious & overlooked detail! 2) BACKPACK OR BAG – A place to store all of your loot! 3) CASH – Some don’t accept checks & cash is king 4) LISTS – Bring a complete list of the items you’re looking for! 5) SKETCHBOOK & PENS – Never know which artist you’ll see! 6) YOUR PORTFOLIO - Many artists at SpringCon are willing to do portfolio reviews. Bring your stuff! 7) FOOD & WATER – Keep the reactor fueled! 8) A SWEATER OR WIND BREAKER – Just in case! 9) A CAMERA – Don’t be shy about asking people for photo opportunities! 10) FRIENDS – It’s always more fun with a group of friends!

For the fourth consecutive year, the MCBA will be having a Charity  Booth/Rummage Sale. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to our two charities, and this year we’re inviting you to help out! We’re looking for any new items you wish to donate, comics, toys, graphic novels, orginal art, CD’s, VSH and DVD’s, tube socks, Ronco Egg Peelers, tools, electronics, lamps, whatever you have that you don’t need, we’ll take and sell for charity! As this all goes towards charity, your donation may be tax deductable: We’ll have formsacknowledging your donation for tax time! So clear out your house and help out a good cause! |

SUNDAY CHAPEL SERVICE
 For those of you that are interested, Carl Borg will be hosting a Chapel Service from 9:15 to 9:45 AM on Sunday May 20th in the Guest Creator panel room. A regular feature at the two day show since 2002! Everyone is welcome!. Local Christian comics guy Carl Borg will lead a short time of prayer. If you’re planning to attend, please pick up your early gate pass at the Christian Comics table on Saturday

I got to bring my Friend Fitz with me to help and we made a weekend of it. Some great highlights, were the FengShui Ninjas, Klingon Party room, and Claudia Christian! Mars Con is moving to the Double Tree on Hwy 100 and 494. So next year more space and more fun!
